In 1995, I was fortunate enough to attend UC Davis as a student athlete and a member of the Aggie Basketball team. A crazy schedule of studying and competing left little time to also earn a living! Like most college students, I tried my hand at odd jobs and did what I could to make ends meet (all while being fueled by nothing more than young ambition and caffeine courtesy a surplus of Red Bulls). One opportune day, I was given the chance to work in an area of which I had always been passionate – you guessed it, with cars at a dealership! Now granted, this was just as an auto-detailer, but working with cars was a step above odd jobs nonetheless!
Three short years later, not only did we bring home the Championship (Go Aggies!), but I had also worked my way up to selling cars part time at the same family-owned dealership in the same small town. I was excited to learn as much as I could about providing a top-notch experience for my customers. The hands-on and personalized service made possible by our business model suited me well. This has become the foundation and benchmark for how I do business. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure to serve as General Sales Manager for a domestic franchise, and as the General Manager of 4 different stores specializing in luxury foreign vehicles.
After nearly twenty years in the business, I was quite content to play my part as the “car guy” for just my close friends and family. Questions about cars were usually directed my way. Even during a short hiatus from the auto-industry, if someone who knew me was curious about a vehicle, I was the first person on their speed dial. If a friend was looking for a very specific car, I would be on a short list of people who could help them find exactly what they were looking for. I enjoyed helping out anyone I could to make their car selling or shopping experience as stress-free as possible. It didn’t occur to me at the time that this would be anything but a side-hobby and way to help out people in my immediate circle.
As more requests for my assistance grew, so did my desire to get back to doing what I love: working with cars and helping people. And so, the idea for RCG Motors was born - and with perfect timing as well. At a time when our society is facing unique challenges, RCG Motors is uniquely equipped to assist the community with their auto buying and selling needs. Being at the helm of this enterprise, I can also ensure that you receive the hands-on and personalized service to which I am committed to provide. Not only will you deal directly with me (just as with my own friends and family), but my personal procurement of vehicles means quality inventory as well. This means no salvaged, flooded or poorly maintained cars (unfortunately, this is not always the case with other dealerships)!
